Benefits of a Bilingual Education

A bilingual education has many benefits, most importantly cultural competence, enhanced cognitive skills, and broader career opportunities.  Bilingual education fosters cultural awareness and empathy, as students gain exposure to different perspectives and traditions. This prepares them to navigate a globalized world with ease and open-mindedness.

Why Learn German?

There are many reasons to learn German! Learning German fosters analytical thinking. German is the language of poets and philosophers. Learning German gives you access to Europe via three countries: Germany, Switzerland and Austria! Germany has some of the best universities in the world and studying in Germany is free! Germany, Switzerland and Austria all have strong job markets. Germany is the 3rd strongest economy in the world.  All three countries provide a high standard of living.  (Skiing anyone?)

Our Mission

German School Brooklyn combines the best of American and German teaching practices to create a fully bilingual, intellectually vibrant and rigorous learning environment that nurtures the mind, body, and creativity of our students. By celebrating our Brooklyn roots and diverse community, we prepare our students to become engaged, empathetic, global citizens.

We champion the individual

Using a 50/50 mixed academic model as the foundation of dual language learning, we tailor the academic experience according to each child’s needs, interests, and abilities. We do not believe in one-size-fits-all education.

We nurture a global ecosystem

As an international school in the heart of Brooklyn, we bring together a variety of cultures, perspectives, and expertise that enrich a child’s understanding of and fluency with the world.

We take a whole-child approach

We raise the person, not just the student, so we develop the intellectual, emotional and social needs of every child to create a foundation for positive living and learning.
