Summer Camp (virtual)

VIRTUAL SUMMER CAMP at GSB

Summer at GSB is going virtual! We love how our summer camps always bring GSB and non GSB students and families together. This year, for everyone’s safety, we will enjoy our time together online. The GSB and Galli Theater NY team adapted our popular summer camp program for the virtual setting. Join us for 9 weeks of activities full of imagination, curiosity, creativity and social interaction.

Daily Routine
Students will have three live sessions of 40 min workshops per day. Students are encouraged to attend all three sessions.
Session 1: 9:30 – 10:10
Session 2: 11:00 – 11:40
Session 3: 1:30 – 2:10

Age of students per group
GSB camps are generally geared toward students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 (as of the 2020/21 school year). Students will start the sessions out together and then be divided into break out rooms by age groups (K-2 and 3-8). Activities and roles are differentiated within the groups. Incoming Kindergarten students for the fall of 2020 are welcome to join the camps as Kindergarten students.

Number of students
The maximum number of students is 12 per group (if not stated otherwise). GSB reserves the right to merge camps if there are fewer than 5 students registered in each camp during any given week.

Tuition
Workshop per week (Includes 3 sessions/day, 5 times/week)
$ 175 for GSB families
$ 225 for NON GSB families

Basic Requirements
Internet access and a screen (phone, laptop, iPad, desktop)

Please make every effort to have your child join the session on time.

WEEK 1 July 6 – July 10

Welcome to the Ocean – A Week Under the Sea (German, K – 8)

We will discover a very special part of the earth: the ocean! We will explore the amazing variety of animals living in the ocean and learn about the different depths (zones) in which they live. We will not only transform the virtual classroom into an ocean, but will also craft different underwater creatures and create our own mini oceans. Older students will have leadership roles, while younger students will have the opportunity to learn from the older kids.

Session 1: We will start our days with a common morning circle where we talk about a sea animal or plant of the day. While the students are welcome to have breakfast together, Yvonne and Tine will share some new information/ a story/ a song in order to start the day.
With these impressions the students will start to work on their own projects, which will range from craft projects to a written story/ poem or other creative idea introduced by the students.

Session 2: This session is for the students to share their first projects with the teachers. We will also use the time to help with further questions and discuss their work in progress.

Session 3: Students get to share their projects with one another. We will then end our day with another fun joint activity.
