Bilingual Approach
German School Brooklyn is the first bilingual German international school in New York City. We use a cross-curricular, cross-cultural, cross-lingual approach that empowers young minds to recognize the complex connections that shape our world. Language, a powerful foundation for learning, enhances understanding, communication, and connection to the issues prevalent in contemporary society.
Benefits of a Bilingual Education
Bilingual education is the academic model of the future. Brain scans have shown that those who are bilingual have denser gray matter than their monolingual counterparts; the earlier the language is learned, the denser the gray matter becomes, which leads to greater retention of vocabulary, grammar, and meaning.
Our mission is to amplify the potential of all our students, so they can achieve the greatest version of themselves—as learners, leaders, and global citizens.
We champion the individual
Using a 50/50 mixed academic model as the foundation of bilingual learning, we tailor an academic experience based on each child’s needs, interests, and abilities. We do not believe in one-size-fits-all education.
